What is a Singapore Sling?
The original 1915 classic from the Raffles Hotel in Singapore, invented by the Chinese bartender Ngiam Toon who worked at the Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel. This Singapore Sling cocktail is a beautiful gin classic that has withstood the test of time.
The Singapore Sling could be considered a kind of tiki cocktail, but with Damrak Gin instead of rum as the base spirit. We leave out the grenadine to ensure that the cocktail doesn't become too sweet. The fruity and sweet notes of the Bols Triple Sec liqueur and Bols Cherry Brandy are freshened by the fresh lime and pineapple juice, and soda water. The gin along with the D.O.M. Bénédictine give the cocktail a herbal and strong bite. The Singapore Sling has a beautiful fresh light-purple colour which makes the cocktail look very festive.
