8 Autumn cocktails you didn't know you needed

Ahh, Autumn. For a lot of people Autumn means the start of the cold season. It’s the season where we store our summer clothing and revive our sweaters and jackets. But there’s more to Autumn. Autumn is beautiful. Tree leaves fall and decorate the forest and ground with a display of beautiful colors. Autumn is also the season to enjoy delicious body-warming, endorphin-releasing cocktails. We’ve done the job for you and compiled a list of 6 delicious Autumn cocktails you didn’t know you needed.

Autumn Cocktail #1: Autumn Fizz

The Autumn Fizz is a simple, yet delicious autumn cocktail. Bols Pumpkin Spice liqueur adds the necessary autumn aromas you need to make this drink pop.

Shake all ingredients without ice to emulsify the egg whites. Add ice cubes and shake hard again for approx. 10 seconds. Strain out in a long drink glass over cubed ice. Top up with soda water. Garnish your autumn cocktail with a slice of pear and cinnamon powder.

*Dissolve 200ml of sugar in 100ml of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Add your spices (we went with 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 star anise, 3 cardamom pods, and 4 cloves) Bring to a gentle simmer. Do not let the liquid come to a boil. Remove your syrup from the heat source and let cool down.

For a more full-body pear taste, simmer your syrup with a half pear.

Autumn Cocktail #2: Spiced Genever Punch

This Autumn cocktail is not only for you. Cocktails should be shared, and a Spiced Genever Punch is the perfect autumn cocktail to share. This recipe serves 6 glasses.

4 Cloves, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 star anise, 4 orange wedges, 4 lemon wedges, half diced apple

Put all ingredients in a saucepan over low heat and bring to a low simmer (do not boil). When the flavors of the spices are infused, remove from the heat source and let cool. Serve the punch warm or place in the fridge for a cold spiced punch. Garnish your autumn cocktail with some slices of orange, lemon & apple, some cinnamon sticks, and star anise.

Autumn Cocktail #3: Port au Pear

The Port au Pear is a balanced & comforting autumn cocktail. One that should be drunk with the eyes closed and the mind wandering away.

Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain out in a rocks glass over cubed ice. Garnish your autumn cocktail with a slice of poached pear.

*Poach your pears in whatever way you like. The spices you use will decide how the cocktail will taste. We’ve poached ours in typical baking spices: cinnamon, cloves, star anise, nutmeg & vanilla. The tasty syrup works miracles in cocktails.

Autumn Cocktail # 4: Precious Thyme

Thyme is precious. Thyme is limited. So why not make the best of your thyme. This autumn cocktail is malty, fruity & herbal. Perfect for autumn.

Muddle the fruit and spices in a long drink glass. Add crushed ice and the remaining ingredients. Mix well with a bar spoon. Top up with tonic water. Garnish your autumn cocktail with a thyme sprig and a slice of grapefruit.
